Frequently Asked Questions

WHY CAN'T WE BRING OUR OWN BEVERAGES?

This is a Michigan Liquor Control requirement.  There are no exceptions.

ARE THERE ADVANCED TICKET SALES?

No, we do not have advanced ticket sales.  But we do have two convenient entrances at Kalamazoo and Ewards Street and at Water Street and Edwards.  The admission charges change based on the entertainment provided for that night.  There is plenty of room and no worry about getting in.  It is a festival setting so actual seating is limited.

WHY DO WE NEED TO BRING IDENTIFICATION (I AM CLEARLY OVER 21.

First of alll, we check all ID's and clearly those who look 35 and younger.  It is a Michigan guideline that you have your identification with you at all times.  This is so that if there is a medical emergency you can be identified quickly and taken care of immediately.  Carrying ID with you is just a smart thing to do.  We value your safety and want to be sure that our Borgess Medical team that is on site is there to help you immediately.

WHAT CAN I BRING ON SITE?

Yourself? Seriously, we cannot allow any coolers on site or any beverages of any kind. This is NOT our rule, it's the Michigan Liquor Control Commission's rule and for good reason. You cannot bring alcoholic beverages on site, our license specifically prohibits it.

CAN I PURCHASE TAKE-OUT AND NOT PAY AN ADMISSION FEE?

Absolutely. Just leave your license at the gate and you can purchase all the take out that you can carry and not pay to enter. Now, if you leave your license and don't come back for a few hours, we will charge you.

ENTRANCE GATES AND IDENTIFICATION, AND WRIST BANDS --WHY?

Well, there are a lot of rules. aren't there? We have to convenient entrances to the Festival Place, one at Kalamazoo and Edwards Streets and one at Water and Edwards Street. By the way, the Kalamazoo entrance is never busy. We need your ID so that we can verify your drinking age, but more importantly your identification allows us to identify you immediately should you need medical attention. The wrist band is another one of those Michigan Liquor Control issue and it helps us to be diligent about catching anyone who should not be drinking alcoholic beverages.
